Located in the middle of the city, our working farm contains a barn, a riding arena, facilities for smaller farm animals, fruit trees and an organic garden. The grounds and the garden act as a laboratory for learning about animals, sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship and healthy eating. Formerly a desolate and barren space, our organic garden is tended to and maintained by Taking the Reins students.
The farm is an ideal place for our equine-based educational programs; it is also a special place where girls can learn to become stewards of the land and preserve the site for future generations of girls. Most importantly, our farm gives girls a place to literally grow their futures. With the farm, we are planting the seeds of opportunities for our girls through partnerships and collaborations with other educational and community organizations and businesses.
